This three-piece band offers three solo artists and songwriters. Their style ranges from Rock, Blues, R&B,
Country, Americana or in other words Acid Funk-Soulgrass.
The Chubby Knuckle Choir officially formed in 2009 in Bastrop, Texas with founding members Curtis
Farley, Perry Lowe, Rory Smith, and Tres Womack. The band currently consists of Perry Lowe, Rory
Smith AKA “Storytime” and Cody Justin King.
The name Chubby Knuckle Choir came from former bass man, and original member Curtis Farley in a
comedic moment, while working in Twisted Twig Studio with Perry Lowe and Rory Smith.
With thoughtfully crafted tunes and lyrics that catch you off guard with their clarity and brutal honesty,
the band delivers quality entertainment without any pretense and takes things back to the days of
accessible, self-deprecating live shows.
Our sound is a marriage of all genres,” explains Lowe, who sings, plays guitar, drums, and keys, while
Smith describes it as “folk music from a country that isn’t around … but should be.”
While other musicians stay beholden to genre and specific song arrangements, The Chubby Knuckle
Choir’s music changes with every performance. It’s this spontaneity and constant willingness to
experiment musically that makes them one of the most unique and compelling bands in Texas today.
With a fresh approach but continuing the formula of unique instrumentation, all are singer-songwriters
and multi-instrumentalists who come from varying musical and geographical backgrounds, which is
embraced by the band to encourage diversity of thought in their music.
